I love you August

My dear, this has been a special year for you, and you've been a very interesting month for me, and for the whole world as well.

You started when my first semester of my foundation in Arts ended. After finishing my finals, it was pretty much all laid back and relaxed for me. Thus, this year my dear, you have been an amazing month.

On your 4th day, I celebrated my birthday, I turn 18 on that day. But that day was modest, no fancy parties, no fun outing. I was at home, replying all the friendly sms-es and emails I had received. No expansive presents either, in fact, I only received one gift. From my beloved mother, whom later on admitted herself that the gift was pathetic.

But on that day, by the grace of God, i received a greater gift.

The gift of Randy Pauscch.

His story is a beautiful one. A dying man, about to lose a wonderful life, a beautiful wife and children. A man who decides to make the best of the time he has, and decides to do a simple lecture. One that I have learn a lot from

Here is the video, it is over an hour long. I highly recommend you see it fellow reader, I really do.

Mr. Randy Pausch died on July 25th 2008, at the age of 47 years old.

Rest in peace Mr. Randy, and Thank you :)

Then on your 8th day my dear August, I had my piano exam!
ah, it was terrible my dear. I did not perform well. I don't think I will pass.
But alas, a musical journey it was.

On that day, was also the day the Beijing Olympics 08 started. I have to give the Chinese loads of kudos for this one, the opening ceremony was jaw dropping. I gave a standing ovation for the ceremony, even tho I only watched it on a small tv.

On the same day as well, war broke out in Georgia.
Georgian Military went and crush south ossentian 'rebel' forces. Almost 2000 people died in the initial attack. This conflict would later on include Russia, who would then utterly destroy the Georgian Army, and cripple her economy.
For the ill informed, read the full story here.

On the 12th, I head off to Langkawi.
it was a trip organized by a club in my college.
the trip was absolutely a fun experience. Although the 'amazing race' that was held did not go down well (for me at least) I learnt a few things about myself, and the people around me.
I also saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen in my entire life my dear, I thank God for giving you such good weather. The sky was clear, and the sun was beautiful.

Made Loads of new friends (a very interesting bunch), definitely the types I would like to have a good relationship with. Heck, I just love interesting people. lol. so thank you for them as well August.

Shortly after I returned from Langkawi (west coast), I was then off to Kuantan(east coast).
This time around, you gave me a beautiful sunrise.
I love you August.
Loved Kuantan as well. Had the best Ikan Bakar. Absolutely lovely.

when I returned from the holiday trip with my family, I was off to college!
Applied for the subjects for second semester.
was such a hassle it was.
ah well, college~

More interesting things happened did it not my dear August?
on your 26th day, the notorious Anwar Ibrahim won his by-election in Permatang Pauh, thus returning him into Parliament after a forced exile from politics for 10 years.
I liked it when he said that his swearing in ceremony should have been broad casted Live on National Television. (swearing in ceremonies for MPs are never broad casted live, in fact it was lucky for a MP to have his/her swearing in ceremony broad casted at all) What an egocentric man he is.

Interesting times.

Fast forward to your 30th day.
Went to have dinner with my Mother and Aunt.
started talking about our family, the current problems and the drama of the past.
Very deep.
that day I also saw a car, that I knew will be mine one day.
One beautiful piece of art that one.
looking forward to drive it soon.

on Merdeka eve, me, my mom, and youngest sister went to see some fireworks.
wasn't so great compared to the Beijing Olympics, but hey, always good to see fire works . hahaha.

Happy 51st birthday my beloved country. May you continue to prosper and grow through these hard, uncertain, yet interesting times.

and there you have it August. one interesting month.
I cant wait when I'll see you again next year my dear.
Until then August,
Thank you

and Good bye.
